The Order of Honour is an honorary society within the Professional Engineers Ontario. It honours those who have made significant contributions to the engineering profession and the community. Inductees are nominated by other members of the community who recognize the contributions that have been made by the candidate. Vitalis Engineering is proud to announce that our president Lui Tai, P.Eng. has been invested into the Order of Honour on June 9, 2022.

Our president’s volunteering journey with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) all started when his team won the Engineering Project of the Year Award from PEO York in 2012. From there, he quickly integrated into the organization, offering his help on multiple committees and working together closely with many of the executives. By his 3rd year volunteering with PEO York, he had a seat on the executive board and was dedicating many after-work hours every week to organize and run outreach events for the education committee. To help carry on the legacy of other Past Chairs and to help train new incoming Chairs, Lui also founded and Chaired the Past Chair Advisory Committee.

10 years later, on the 100th Anniversary of PEO, having sat in many positions in the organization, it’s hard to think of someone more fitting to be invested into the Order of Honour.

“I am honoured and humbled to be invested into the PEO Order of Honour. Volunteering with PEO York gave me the opportunity to meet so many incredibly selfless and inspiring individuals, all of whom I look up to as mentors.” commented Lui, “They have shown me what a single person can do to affect positive change and contribute to the community and the profession. I am very grateful for their influence and teaching, and will continue to actively volunteer for the profession I love.”

As most people know, awards are seldom a solo effort. Lui said, “Thanks to my nominators and to the Awards Committee for this award. Thanks to my wife and kids for putting up with my many absences from home on evenings and weekends. Thanks to my Board of Directors at PEO York for their unwavering support throughout the years. Last but not least, thank you to my mentors and friends, all of whom have supported me throughout my journey at PEO.”

  1. Woah! I’m enjoying the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appeal. I must say you’ve done a very good job with this.
